Hotel Tambaú

Sérgio Bernardes' 1971 Hotel Tambaú in João Pessoa, Brazil: a vast low concrete ring with sloping finned walls that meets the tide on the beach and sinks into a grassed bank on the city side. Palm courtyards, a turquoise pool and a slender central mast fill its concentric rings.
